The artist Kenneth Howard was known as Von Dutch, and in the '50s, he began the innocent activity of playing around with lines. Working on the previously untested theory that pinstriped lines need not remain parallel to one another, he created varied, complex (yet line-based) designs on bikes and hot rods.
